Brand Creation | a Case Study
When we were approached by representatives of the South African Motor Industry and MerSETA to develop a concept, we were proud to immediately start our research needed for the success of the project.
The main focus for the brand was appeal young matriculates with an aptitude for math and tech we concluded we needed to generate an emotionally charged campaign. The target demographic statistically showed to be most responsive to call to actions embedded within their youth culture.
Our team extracted our key elements; a passion for cars, their speed and power, the pride of taking responsibility and control of their future career and being part of a group of like-minded peers and a common goal; becoming the best at what they do -growth.
We translated the essence of the product into the reation of the MiGrade brand. MiGrade being 'theirs' (Mi=My & Mi=Motor Industry) and reflecting growth through study(=Grade).

The logo and badge are carried as a token of the pride by all students and participating corporate's in its goal to accommodate the huge shortage of technically skilled, and modern cars specific knowledgeable, artisans.
Campaign Building | Targeting Markets
The actual campaign had a dual focus. The first being of course recruiting new students, secondly procuring new car manufacturers endorsing the project.
To reach potential students, following the results of our market research, it was decided to target schools with a poster ad campaign to generate brand-awareness. The campaign was supported by local newspaper and radio ads.
To facilitate clear information stream we created the student brochure and a comprehensive web development that also offers the opportunity to sign up for the programme.
As incentives - and to strengthen the sense of being part of MiGrade - we produced branded overalls, caps and (car)key rings to offer to participating students. The enrolment has only just been initiated and the numbers already shown to be more then promising!
Reaching Potential Partners
To create goodwill and convey a clear understanding of the many benefits the project brings to car manufacturers we produced a dealer package, containing brand specific posters, a dealer brochure, presentations and offered shared ad opportunities. Within no time, Ford, Hino, Mazda, Volvo and Land rover joined MiGrade.
